City Council - Parks and Recreation Committee

okay and for our next committee we have Parks and Recreation and that is chaired by council member Williams thank you president protim Huffman today we have one item on our agenda that's pretty straightforward and that is a res a resolution authorizing our parks department to apply for Washington State Recreation conservation Grant to help us uh develop the story Brook Park phase one project the city of Bellingham parks and wreck department requires city council authorization to apply for a grant from the Washington State Recreation and conservation office to help us develop uh story Brook Park phase one uh the Department intends to apply for a grant in the amount of $500,000 and the grant will help pay for some of the phase one um uh phase one Elements which are AE playground a nature trail Loop Park entrances parking Street Frontage improvements and so forth The Phase One Park development uh is estimated to cost us around 2.1 million and this grant will be matched with Park impact fees additional real estate excise tax re funding will will fund the street Frontage part of this project so to get a little more detail I'll turn this over to Nicole Oliver our director of Parks and Recreation thank you council member Williams I really don't have any additional detail we just need your permission to uh uh apply for this grant are there any questions from the committee about this I'll move approval it it's been moved to approve the staff recommendation so uh all in favor say I I I
